Fishing Report Jan 11, 2005

Crappie fishing at the lake has picked up now that the ice is mostly gone from Pinchot Lake. Small shiners, fat head minnows and soft plastics are catching most of the crappie off of the face of the dam. Largemouth bass and an occasional Hybrid Striper are also being caught at the dam on jerkbaits and some crankbaits. The hot colors of soft plastics are white, pink, and pink/white.

The Susquehanna River level is coming down from recent rises due to rain we received. Smallmouth bass are being caught in winter eddies on hair jigs and tubes. Walleye are being caught in LARGE numbers below the Brunner Island warm water area. Jerkbaits, Lucky Craft Pointers and Smithwick Rogues, are catching most of the walleyes as well as medium, large and pike shiners. Stripers are being caught here and there on jerkbaits too. Many walleye in the 25 to 28 inch range have been caught in the past 3 weeks.

A lot of anglers are taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather we are having. Monday we had a high temperature of 62 degrees! In the beginning of January! Guys are getting out now before ole' man winter returns.

Good luck everyone!
