Fishing Report

This weather just does not want to make up it's mind! The crappie fishing has been on hold this week due to a skim of ice on Pinchot Lake, down at the dam. A couple guys are catching some largemouth bass off the bank though - in the upper end of the lake. They are using Smithwick Suspending Rogues in the area of the main beach, at the Quaker Race Day Use Area. The best color is a Firetiger color, fished VERY slowly. Twitch pause, pause, pause...you get the idea. The slower the better.

The river has finally come down to a level close to 4 1/2 feet and visibility is good. Jerkbaits and live bait are catching some smallmouth and walleyes. The larger walleyes are getting harder to find lately. Most walleyes caught seem are under 20 inches. Smallmouth up to 19 inches are being caught fairly often.

Crappies Are On Again!

The crappie fishing at Pinchot has been hot all week. Today was a little tougher with the high winds but a few guys braved the 40 MPH + wind gusts and still caught a few.

The best crappie action right now is down at the dam again. Fish are being most active at around the 12 to 15 foot depth. Slip floats are key to getting your bait/lure to the fish and keeping it there.

Many guys reported catching crappies over 10 inches on "every other cast". Lots of crappies over 12 inches were caught this week on fathead minnows, small shiners and 2 inch twister tails.

Most of the ice is gone except for the shallower end of the lake, back in the cove where the lily pads are located. This area still has a skim of ice on it.

A few bass anglers fishing off the banks are catching a bass here and there, mostly on Smithwick Suspending Rogue jerkbaits.

The warm water area of the Susquehanna River below Brunner Island is turning on again also now that levels have come down to fishable levels. Suspending jerkbaits such as Pointer 100 and 78's as well as Suspending Rogues are doing well on smallmouth, walleye and hybrid stripers. Medium and large shiners are working well for live bait fisherman.

We expect the crappie fishing to remain pretty hot for the next few weeks, especially towards the end of next week when the warmer weather returns. So get out there and enjoy some catching!

Back from the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show!

Hey everyone, we are finally back from the big Harrisburg, PA Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show. Sorry we haven't posted anything lately, however that show is a hectic proposition. I would like to say thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and said hi.

While we are currently getting the Tackle Shop back in order, the big snow storm has put a damper on local fishing. Lake Pinchot isn't sure if it feels like icing up or not and the mighty susqy is a mess. With it warming up to the mid fifties, we look to see our local fisherman hitting the water soon.

Some new things are our new "Sow Tail", which was officially released at the show. Although we have 7 colors, we will be adding Watermelon Red and Black Red Flake to our line up. Also, due to many requests we will be adding a 4 inch version.

In our "Jerk Shad" we will be adding two new colors to this line, due to a growing popularity. One is clear pepper, with a black back and blue pearl pepper.

Many people have inquired about the new "Chatterbait" from Rad Lures that has won tons of money on the BASS tourny trails. Rest assurred they are ordered and are "supposed" to be shipped in mid March, so stay tuned.

** DON'T FORGET OUR SALE IS APPROACHING FAST. MARCH 8-12, WITH FREE FOOD AND DRINKS AND TONS OF SPECIALS ALL WEEK LONG, 10% TO 50% OFF EVERYTHING IN THE SHOP. ON THE 11TH WE WILL BE FORTUNATE TO HAVE KEN PENROD WITH US FROM 8 AM TILL 1 PM. WE HAVE BECOME KNOWN FOR OUR FEAST ON THE 11TH, SO FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE FOOD DURING PAST SALES ON THE SATURDAY OF THIS SALE, DON'T MISS OUT THIS YEAR.......!

New Baits are In the House!!!

While we are preparing and setting up for the Harrisburg Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show we are proud to introduce a few new baits. Hope to see ya'all there, please stop by and say Hi!

In our "SLOP STICK" line we have added a Black with blue fleck in both the 4 and 5 inch sizes. Don't forget that we offer these in the 50 packs also, for only $12.99.

We just created a new bait called the "SOW TAIL" it is a imitator of the "sweet beaver". We offer it in 8 different colors right now and will soon be expanding that. The bait is 3 inches long, however we will be adding a 4 inch version in the near future. 10 packs are only $2.99!!!

With the buzz around top water frogs we created one also. Applicably named the "HAWG FRAWG" look for it in 5 packs in 5 different colors.

Netbait has been added to our growing product line, and after many requests we added Tru-Tungston weights in every color and every size available.
